Cascadia Data Alliance Logo Launch
We’re excited to share a logo design we recently finished for Cascadia Data Alliance, an entity of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. We sought to create a clean and bold identity that works well within the Fred Hutch family and is optimized for both print and digital applications, and plays well with other affiliates and partnerships.
About Cascadia Data Alliance
The Cascadia Data Alliance is a community founded by Fred Hutch that aims to bring together the region’s organizations to contribute their wealth of expertise to establish a regional data ecosystem. The Alliance will facilitate the creation of shared best practices in data governance and groundbreaking partnerships. Improved governance and collaboration will be used to drive towards a common data platform to accelerate research and innovation across the community [source]. The focus is regional, but with a goal of a global reach in order to streamline finding a cure for cancer.
We worked with the Cascadia Data Alliance team to create the brand identity and additional marketing communication deliverables . Jennergy considered the creative needs of Fred Hutch and entities such as the Hutch Data Commonwealth, The Cascadia Data Discovery Initiative (CDDI) as well as the CDDI Participating Institutions:
- BC Cancer
- Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University
- University of British Columbia Data Science Institute
- University of Washington eScience Institute
With involvement from multiple partners and stakeholders, Jennergy sought to understand the needs of each on this collaborative brand project. Through presentation and translation of partner feedback, Jennergy interpreted the needs and came up with a solution everyone is excited about. The results? A logo design the client loves and we’re proud of.
Process & Design
Our logo design process takes a traditional approach, starting with a sketchbook and pencil. We work through multiple ideas before we take the design digital to refine and incorporate feedback from stakeholders. For the Cascadia Data Alliance logo, the client wanted to show the uniqueness of the region and bring a sense of community. The mark includes elements coming together like puzzle pieces to form a community, as well as a mountain and sunrise. The sun is an abstract symbol of emerging data that Cascadia hopes will provide warmth and hope to the community.
The logo project included a brand guideline; outlining proper logo usage, typography, an co-branding rules (specifically for when the logo is to appear alongside the Fred Hutch logo). Jennergy also created communication materials their team can use to stay on brand consistently. These materials included a PowerPoint and Print Flyer template based on the marketing needs of Cascadia Data Alliance.
We were thrilled to work with Fred Hutch and their stakeholders on creating the brand identity for Cascadia Data Alliance and look forward to continuing the relationship for other marketing needs!
